Where She Shines

Have you ever met that someone
that just shines and shines and shines?
Whose giggle stirs your soul
Even when you hear it
A bazillion zillion times.
Whose love for friends and family
seems to have no measure.
Whose quest for honest happiness
is equaled only by the pleasure
she gets from sharing a knowing smirk
and finding in your heart
a hidden secret treasure.
Who enjoys the game of life
and all of its adventure.
Who asks nothing in return
save for a sincere and giving heart
to share in all her pleasure
as she dances down this road of life
inside the memories she's found.
I'll tell you now and swear it
that if and when you find her near you
hold her close and dear and true.
Let her shine and shine and shine
no matter what it is you do.
And don't be shy to tell her
how much she matters to you.
Show her that you love her.
Show her why you're you.
Cause that is what they're doing
when they do everything they do.
Even when all she's doing
is just looking right straight at you
and smirking just a little
and saying with that look
"I'm glad that you are here
and I hope you know
how much I do,
how much I truly love you...".

If you never get the chance.
If you never get that glance.
If you find yourself just past
the losing side of happenstance.
Don't settle.
Try and find that balance
with the one you feel that matters.
Don't get sucked into all the chatter
on the overloaded ladder
that's falling to the gutter
faster than what's worth it.
Follow what's in your heart.
Lead with all your being.
And if you have to start again
right at the damn beginning
well then at least you raced the race.
Keeping up the pace and maybe saving face
before you lost your heart,
before you lost your grace.
This is all you can do
as well as live and love and dream.
And wait ever patiently
for that lovely glowing beam
to find you once again
so you can find the courage
to return that smile right back to her
and maybe toss a wink her way
even though that it may seem
a bit to much.
It's not.
It's only the beginning.
